This month’s Ign!te the M!c, featuring special guest host Charitie Bruning from Springfield College, was an absolute success and great way to end the academic year. With such grace, poise, and energy, Charitie facilitated the flow of performances ranging from singing, to poetry, to visual art. UMass Amherst and Springfield College students, as well as local community members filled the open mic list, took up the entirety of the hour, and left us wanting more. Wednesday was not just another open mic. It was in my eyes the beginning of new collaborations, community building, and growth based on a mutual passion for making and sharing art with one another. I see great things ahead.
